Reverend John Paszko, Pastor

 Pastor's Message ........

As we now celebrate the Sunday Liturgies of Ordinary Time, the ongoing theme will be our call to Discipleship, and the challenges we will have to face and to overcome as we answer Jesus' call. It is this ministry of our faith in action that will win us a place in the Kingdom of Heaven.

The greatest obstacle to our ministry of answering the call might very well be ourselves. Often we listen and are eager to respond, yet we lack faith and self confidence. Often we stress the shortcomings of our lives and we make excuses. Yet what we must see is that God chooses His workers despite their human failings, as evidenced by salvation history.

Take for example, the call of Abraham and his wife Sarah. They were considered too old to do anything useful, yet God made them the parents of His chosen people and progenitors of faith. Or we can look at the call of St. Matthew, the tax collector for the Roman Empire. Considered to be an enemy of the Jewish people, Jesus chose him to come and follow, and to write His Gospel, the good news of Jesus.

What we need to always remember is that Jesus died for our sins. Sinners and the so-called useless are saved by their faith. Our faith witnesses to the resurrection. We share this witness with our ancestors, and we will share it with our descendants in God's family.
