Ed Kolcz has been a church music director, organist, freelance keyboardist, accompanist, arranger, and choral director for 35 years. Prior to coming to St. Luke in 1999, Ed was the music director at St. Andrew in Coral Springs, St. Joan of Arc in Boca Raton, and the Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak Michigan. Ed began studying piano at the age of 5, organ and violin at the age of 12 and completed his studies at the Sherwood School of Music and Detroit Conservatory of Music before moving to Florida in 1975. He has also served as a pit musician and director in several musical productions such as Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Hello Dolly, Mame, Annie, The Sound of Music, and several others. Ed also plays in various bands, chamber ensembles, and has performed organ dedication concerts. He regularly serves as an accompanist/coach for numerous professional, amateur, and student vocalists and instrumentalists in the south Florida area. In addition to being a musician, Ed also had a career in Information Technology for over 30 years along with hobbies in audio recording, and serving as a board member/officer in several student band and orchestra community/parent organizations. Ed resides in Deerfield Beach with his wife and 3 children. |
